🌱 ABOUT THE FILM

Garlic Resistance is a 60-minute independent musical film where the songs are the script. Set in a small Vermont farming town, the story follows a community rising up against an agricultural tyrant using garlic, grit, and grassroots unity. It’s mythic, funny, emotional, and 100% local.

We are looking for non-actors and expressive people of all ages to embody roles through simple movement, facial expression, and real-life presence. You do not need to memorize lines or sing!

🎭 ROLES AVAILABLE

• Amos King – Garlic farmer, family patriarch (60s–70s) – Wise, earthy, still.

• Mary – His wife (50s–60s) – Strong, nurturing, no-nonsense.

• ​

• Sassy King – Fiery 10–14-year-old – Stands up to bullies.

• Emily – Middle daughter (late teens–20s) – Artistic and brave.

• ​

• Big Red Henderson – Villain (40s–60s) – Loud, cocky, theatrical.

• Brickie – Tough woman, thug for Big Red (30s–50s).

• Grim – Silent male thug (30s–50s) – Intimidating.

• Big Ben Cross – Supporter of the resistance (60s+).

• The Poet- Friend of the resistance and Amos King.

• Filming will happen over several weekends in August 2025
• Locations across the Northeast Kingdom: Craftsbury, Barton, Hardwick, etc.
• No budget, but meals, glory, and garlic will be provided
• Local audience is our focus; film will also be submitted to festivals

• Garlic Field Workers – Any age – Appear planting, harvesting, or standing silently in resistance.

• Funeral Attendees – All ages – Quiet presence for Harry's memorial. Poised and respectful.

• Kitchen Resistance Crew – Elders and adults – Appear in family kitchen scenes with expressive cooking gestures.
