Hand crafted films made in Vermont.
The Ensemble
In the films created by the NEKFLIX ensemble every actor participates voluntarily, reflecting the deeply collaborative and community-driven ethos of his work. Despite their day jobs as police, poets, farmers, radio hosts, and local entrepreneurs, these performers are drawn to the creativity and camaraderie of filmmaking. This blend of professional and amateur talent has given NEKFLIX films their distinct authenticity and charm, capturing the spirit of the Northeast Kingdom and beyond.
The NEKFLIX festival at the Catamount Arts Center showcased several of these productions, emphasizing the grassroots nature of the filmmaking process. Films like Loup Garou, That’s Life, and Gully’s Paradise brought together a wide array of cast members, including key collaborators like Eddie Garcia, Carlinne DeLima, Michael Barros, and Rachel Hadas. These individuals contribute not only their acting skills but also their perspectives, infusing the stories with local relevance and humor.
NEKFLIX's approach embodies a truly democratic art form, where the process is as rewarding as the final product. Each project provides a space for storytelling, community engagement, and creative exploration that resonates with both audiences and participants. The joy of being part of such an inventive process keeps this group of collaborators eager to return for new projects like Garlic Resistance.
